Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is an evidence-based program that inspires girls of all abilities to build confidence, develop life skills, and recognize their inner strength. Through a combination of physical activity and guided lessons, participants learn to navigate challenges, build healthy relationships, and make confident decisions.

Volunteer coaches lead engaging, interactive sessions that integrate movement with meaningful conversations—supporting girls’ social, emotional, and physical development.

At the end of each season, participants complete a celebratory 5K, creating a powerful sense of accomplishment and reinforcing a confident, goal-oriented mindset.

Originally introduced to the Yuba-Sutter community by Soroptimist of Marysville-Yuba City in 2008, the program now operates in partnership with Girls on the Run Northstate, expanding access to more schools and students across the region.

While the pandemic temporarily slowed momentum, the program continues to grow—reaching more girls each year and helping them realize their full potential.

Our Involvement

Soroptimist members support Girls on the Run Northstate through volunteer coordination, community awareness, and fundraising efforts that provide scholarships and expand access to the program.

Members assist with organizing volunteers for local 5K events, promoting the program throughout the community, and helping ensure that every girl has the opportunity to participate.

Soroptimist members also serve in leadership roles, including representation on the Girls on the Run Northstate Board of Directors.
