Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls

​

Dream It, Be It is a program of Soroptimist International of the Americas designed to equip girls with the tools, confidence, and support they need to achieve their education and career goals. Through this program, participants build skills that help them navigate challenges and create pathways toward a positive and self-defined future.

Locally, Soroptimist of Marysville-Yuba City brings this program to high school students through engaging workshops offered throughout the year. Sessions may be held as a single-day experience or as a multi-session series in partnership with local schools.

Participants engage in interactive activities and guided discussions focused on:

• Exploring career opportunities

• Setting and achieving personal and academic goals

• Identifying and overcoming obstacles to success

• Building resilience and moving forward after setbacks

The program also incorporates practical life skills such as stress management, self-care, and decision-making. For example, sessions include activities that help students identify stressors in their lives and develop healthy coping strategies and self-care plans .

Through a supportive and encouraging environment, Dream It, Be It helps young women recognize their strengths, build confidence, and take steps toward their future.

How It Works

Soroptimist members collaborate with school counselors and staff to identify and invite students who may benefit from the program. Depending on the format, participants may attend a one-day workshop or a series of sessions designed to build skills over time.

Recent programming has included a four-part workshop series held in partnership with a local high school, creating consistency and deeper engagement for participating students.

Parent/guardian permission is required for participation, and forms are collected in advance to ensure a safe and supportive experience for all students.

Membership & Involvement

Dream It, Be It is led by Soroptimist members who are passionate about supporting and empowering girls in our community. Members coordinate with school partners, facilitate sessions, organize logistics, and connect students with meaningful resources and support.
